May 2012 Prayer Letter

“Black hole”

Black hole: “n. 1): a celestial object that has a gravitational field so strong that light cannot escape it and that is believed to be created especially in the collapse of a very massive star” 2. The Glessners. (Merriam-Webster). If it feels like it’s been too long since we’ve written, we freely admit to being sucked into a time-space singularity and being unable to write for a few months. The book and the movie are soon to follow.

Update
But seriously, the “black hole” is known as a “ThM thesis” and we’ve now escaped safely out the other side. We’re keeping up with the ministries in sports and computers and English, and we’re bracing ourselves for lots of summer activities. This coming week, Monday and Wednesday, we will be hosting a soccer clinic in the neighborhood, run by a visiting team of Christian soccer players. Interest here is high! Things continue to go well in the schools. Our investment there has led to the opportunity to do some work there with teams this summer. We’ll be doing some assemblies on “values” in June in the elementary and the high school. We are developing a nucleus of kids with English club on Mondays at school and with flag football on Saturdays. Each week at flag football Tim talks to the boys about one of the fruit of the Spirit. Last week was patience. We continue to trust that as we patiently serve and work with kids, teachers, parents, men and women we will see fruit.

Leadership
Tim continues to work with the seminary students, and we have the opportunity to take on a leadership role with the small group meeting in our neighborhood. We hope to use that relationship to invest in some potential leaders and encourage people to catch a vision for what they can do to serve the Lord. Every second Sunday we meet with a few families to pray for Pueblo Nuevo.

It’s our hope and prayer that over the summer and beginning the fall we will be able to start up several Bible studies. We have a few contacts that we feel God has given us and that are ready.
