April 2010 Prayer letter

He is risen!

Happy Resurrection Day! He is Risen! (We completely agree with those of you who think Easter is a terrible name and that those of us who truly believe in a risen Savior should proclaim Resurrection Day instead!) This week is Holy Week, so in Mexico kids are off school, families gone on vacation (to the beach!) and the country is gearing up for the big day…Good Friday. They celebrate Jesus’ death, but not so much the resurrection. So, remember, Good News means both Christ’s death AND resurrection. 1 Corinthians 15:3-6.

We’re spending this week in Pennsylvania with Barbara-Lee’s parents. One thing special about our year in the States has been to be around family. Obviously we’re living close to Tim’s family, but it’s been great to see Barbara-Lee’s side as well. The 70-degree weather is a plus, too! Drew even lost a tooth here!

We were also privileged to see our friends from Puebla, Miguel and Socorro. That’s the fourth time we’ve gotten to be with them this year in the U.S. Are you beginning to get the idea that the friends one makes in ministry are pretty deep and long-lasting? We’re thankful for how God has brought them into our lives.

Puebla update
Tim spoke with Christian last week and it sounds like things are going ok. Some people have been missing and church finances are real tight, but they’re moving along. It sounds as if Christian is working through leadership issues and learning and growing from his mistakes. That’s encouraging. Please keep praying for him and for the church.

Easter with Rojas Family

Help Wanted
Leandro Lozada is a young man we mention in our presentation in churches as well as here. We tell the story of God’s grace in saving and sanctifying him. One of the “Help Wanted” ideas we want to share is Leandro. He just graduated from college and is working this year at a school. Over the years Leandro has grown in thoughtfulness, humility and courage. He is a thinker, who is always asking questions, reading and growing in knowledge—and working in ministry. He’s been preaching regularly in the church for over a year now. Leandro feels led to prepare to be a teacher. He would like to come to the U.S. to study at seminary and we would like to find a way to make this work. So we’re looking for ideas in this. The need is not merely financial, but rather for creative thinking. We’re hoping to find a good situation with a good seminary and church and possibly even a family. Leandro needs the opportunity to work in ministry and studies and would be a great asset in these roles. We’d love to begin a dialogue with you if this catches your eye. And please pray for Leandro.
